This submission is coming from a pretty, young mum who is also a career lady. To imagine she had to prepare Akara for breakfast alongside cupcakes before dashing to the office this morning thrills me a great deal. We thank her for this wonderful submission with corresponding pictures. Well, let's get to the recipe. Meanwhile, to have your recipe featured on this blog, click HERE!

Prep time: Less than 45 minutes
Ingredients
1. One cup (250g) of brown beans
2. Onions
3. Pepper
4. Salt.
5. Oil for frying
Procedure
  1. Soak the dry beans in water
  2. Wash /dehusk after 5 mins
3. Soak in clean water for another 5/10 mins
4. Blend to a smooth consistency is small batches, with onions.
5. Make a thick paste of drop consistency, (like thick pap)
6. Put in a brown and briskly turn with a wooden spoon,in same direction for about 5 minutes, then pour in a bowl.
7. Frying is deep fat frying. Set a reasonable quantity of groundnut oil on middle heat Until hot. Check the hotness by dropping small Akara mix into it. If it pops up then the oil is ready
8. Scoop spoonfuls of the mixture ,giving spaces between each scoop
9. The balls will pop up or you use a spatula to loosen the base.
10. Turn intermittently and Fry until golden brown
11. And voila! Your delicious Akara is ready.
